APC has announced APC InRoom Perimeter Cooling Solutions that provide high reliability for year-round operation, with the ease of service, system flexibility and redundancy necessary to keep critical technology rooms up and running.

"The increasing use of high density servers and storage equipment coupled with escalating energy costs has created real challenges for today's IT and facility managers," said Peter Hannaford, Vice President, Datacenters & Alliances, EMEA/LAM, APC by Schneider Electric. "In response, APC's InRoom perimeter cooling solutions cool up to 5kW per rack, maintain humidity, cool non-racked IT loads, and run 10 percent more efficiently than other perimeter units through the use of electronically commutated (EC) fan technology."

APC's InRoom Perimeter Cooling solutions enable monitoring and maintenance of temperature and humidity design conditions which is critical to the smooth operation of a Data Centre or computer room. Tight tolerance temperature control is essential as temperature fluctuations can cause thermal stresses and premature failures in IT equipment. Low humidity can cause static discharge and high humidity can cause condensation - both extremes creating treacherous conditions for IT and networking equipment. Additionally, APC InRoom Perimeter Cooling solutions are highly manageable with controls to ensure optimized operation, alarms to provide visibility into the health of the unit, and an easy-to-use display allowing the operator to select options from the device's menu-driven interface to control and monitor the connected air conditioning system.

The benefits of APC's InRoom leading edge precision cooling solutions also include:

• EC fan modules which increase fan efficiency by up to 30 percent while reducing operating costs;
• Anti-vibration mounting to isolate the fan module from the unit structure;
