PCI DVR cards for 4, 8 and 16 channels

Stretch : 01 July, 2009  (Application Story)
Provideo is supplying DVR cards using Stretch processors in a number of H.264 configurations
Stretch and Provideo have announced availability of Provideo's latest series of five PCIe DVR add-in cards. The series comprise capture and compression cards ranging from the PV-190 8/16 channel capture card up to the PV-283 16-channel H.264 compression card featuring a 4-Lane PCIe interface.

The new cards make use of the power of Stretch S6000 family software configurable processors to deliver unprecedented performance in a single PCIe add-in card form factor. All cards feature embedded analytics and ship with a software developer's kit, ensuring that porting of third-party software is fast and straightforward.

"Provideo has earned a reputation for delivering high performance products with outstanding video quality," said Colin Chang, vice president of Provideo. "Using Stretch's processor technology and Stretch reference designs allowed us to easily and quickly differentiate our series of compression cards. These cards set a new industry standard for video quality."

The Stretch Intelligent Encoder enabled Provideo to automatically configure their H.264 encode parameters based on the results of embedded analytics running on every channel of captured video. Additionally leveraging the flexibility of Stretch's software-defined architecture allowed Provideo to easily update their designs according to the latest standards, such as H.264SVC, the scalable extension to the popular H.264 standard.

"Provideo's adoption of S6000 family processors into their new DVR platform is a tremendous endorsement of Stretch technology," said Joe Hanson, Stretch director of sales for Asia Pacific. "The power of our processors and the flexibility afforded by Stretch technology helped Provideo to quickly bring to market a high-performance solution that can be easily integrated and will remain up to date as the pace of technical innovation in the surveillance industry accelerates."
