Privacyware : 01 July, 2010  (New Product)
ThreatSentry IIS web application firewall from Privacyware now has wider operating system support and is compliant with payment card industry regulatory requirements
PCI DSS Compliant Web Application Firewall
Privacyware has announced an important upgrade of its award-winning ThreatSentry IIS and Intrusion Prevention solution. ThreatSentry 4 supports Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7 on 32 and 64 bit systems and includes several new features and configuration capabilities that help administrators improve web application security and comply with regulatory demands such as Section 6.6 of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

"ThreatSentry 4 reflects our continued commitment to the administrators and other IT personnel of small and mid-sized businesses accountable for the security, compliance and availability of their vital web applications and the safety of private data," said Privacyware CEO, Greg Salvato."We've re-architected ThreatSentry to deliver not only expanded Operating System support, but superior performance and several high-demand enhancements as well. Combined, these advances further strengthen ThreatSentry's value proposition among the available IIS web application firewall offerings."

Some of the key enhancements available in ThreatSentry 4 include:

• Expanded OS support: Windows Server 2008 R2 x86/x64, IIS 5, 6 & 7x.
• Parameter filtering for specific request types - POST, GET, etc.
• Rule-specific URL/s exclusion capabilities.
• URI Encoding support.
• Regular Expression support for parameter rules/filtering.
• Non-display of Sensitive Data.
• Enhanced support for local or external SQL Server implementation.

An ISAPI Extension hosted in MMC, ThreatSentry's knowledgebase of pre-configured filters are designed to identify and block a broad range of web application threats including Structured Query Language (SQL) Injection, DoS, Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF), Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and other attack techniques.

ThreatSentry's conventional defence capabilities are augmented by a behaviour-based Intrusion prevention component founded on specialized artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies that profile typical request activity and can detect unusual events and patterns indicative of zero-day and targeted attacks. Default configuration settings are designed to deliver optimal out-of-box performance and administrative control. Low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is made possible through aggressive license pricing targeted for organizations of any size and exceptional ease of deployment and ongoing maintenance.
