Partnership Supports Two Factor Authentication For the Cloud

Ping Identity : 02 September, 2010  (Company News)
Interoperability between PingFederate and RSA SecurID brings 2FA access control for cloud computing applications for enhanced security
Ping Identity has joined the RSA Secured Partner Program and certified interoperability between PingFederate and the RSA SecurID two-factor authentication solution from RSA, The Security Division of EMC. This interoperability partnership and certification creates a solution that provides stronger access controls to Cloud applications, helping to increase security for joint customers.

"Ping Identity utilizes a cost-effective way to use RSA SecurID authentication to provide secure, strong authentication to any number of Cloud applications," said Ping Identity CTO Patrick Harding. "Our PingFederate Integration Kit for RSA SecurID allows organizations to use PingFederate Cloud SSO (Single Sign-On) and RSA SecurID authentication in an integrated manner that helps improve security, saves money and increases application usability."

The PingFederate Integration Kit for RSA SecurID connects PingFederate running at an Identity Provider site directly with RSA Authentication Manager, which integrates with the organization's directory. When a user with an RSA SecurID software or hardware token attempts to access a Cloud application, PingFederate generates a SAML or WS-Federation assertion and transmits it directly to the Service Provider through a secure connection. The Service Provider then grants the user access to the application. The user is never prompted to log into the application, hence no need for an Internet password.

"We are pleased to welcome Ping Identity to the RSA Secured Partner Program. Through our inventive collaboration we can support the needs of organizations by providing enhanced authentication technology that helps to protect joint customers to securely access Cloud-based applications," said Ted Kamionek, vice president, business development and technical alliances at RSA. "Through the certification, Ping Identity customers can add an additional level of security that reduces complexity and increases confidence within dynamic business environments."

Used by more than 40 million people across more than 30,000 organizations worldwide, RSA SecurID technology is the market-leading two-factor authentication solution. It is engineered to assure user identities and protect against unauthorized access to applications and resources across numerous physical locations. RSA SecurID technology is comprised of both a broad range of hardware and software authenticators that are designed to provide end users with a one-time password that is designed to change every 60 seconds, as well as its software engine - RSA Authentication Manager - which is engineered to scale to support millions of users and to provide the benefit of technical certification and interoperability with more than 350 products.

Used by hundreds of customers worldwide including more than 30 of the Fortune 100 and 175 SaaS and BPO providers, PingFederate delivers Internet SSO and Internet User Account Management. The only vendor-independent software of its kind, PingFederate helps increase SaaS user adoption and productivity, saves administrative time and cost, and strengthens security. PingFederate boasts a 98 percent satisfaction rate among users, and 66 percent say they completed their first implementation in two weeks or less.
