Partnership Provides Enhanced Law Enforcement Investigation Tools

LexisNexis Risk And Information Analytics : 25 October, 2010  (New Product)
Appriss and Risk Solutions From LexisNexis provide police forces and other investigative agencies with improved abilities to share information for earlier criminal detection
LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Appriss, the technology provider for JusticeXchange, have announced an enriched suite of investigative tools to help both government and criminal justice agencies better share information and locate offenders. The Appriss solutions will elevate the capabilities of LexisNexis Government Solutions, which enables government agencies to transform data into mission critical decisions.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions will integrate access to Appriss' JusticeXchange and OffenderNet solutions into its LexisNexis Accurint for Law Enforcement technology, which is part of LexisNexis Government Solutions. This will help government, law enforcement and criminal justice professionals better locate and apprehend subjects and witnesses so agencies can increase case solvability rates, strengthen prosecutions and reduce overall crime rates.

"This offering will allow the LexisNexis Government Solutions to build on its robust search and analysis capabilities and provide a full suite of investigative solutions for government entities, social services and law enforcement to help further public safety," said Haywood Talcove, chief executive officer, of LexisNexis Special Services Inc. "Appriss' technologies will enable Accurint users to connect nationwide and improve information sharing among law enforcement to help locate offenders, monitor probationers and parolees, and track down wanted people."

Accurint for Law Enforcement is a web-based, law enforcement solution that provides comprehensive search capabilities for investigators to find information on criminals, witnesses, abducted children and other persons of interest. The product enables law enforcement professionals to quickly and intelligently access records, shortening investigation time, freeing up valuable staff and minimizing costs associated with lengthy investigations.

"For more than 15 years, Appriss has built a secure network of offender information to support criminal justice agencies in their efforts to solve crime and locate individuals in an investigation," said Brian Oldham, executive vice president of Appriss. "We are proud of our association with LexisNexis Risk Solutions and support law enforcement's ability to protect the public with state-of-the-art technology."

OffenderNet is a secure, integrated justice database that manages more than 40 million booking records, including warrants, probation and parole records, and data on persons of interest. It also contains more than six million booking photos. JusticeXchange is the portal criminal justice agencies use to access the information. It is currently available in 21 states across the country.
