Parkex Exhibition To See Vehicle Access Barriers From Avon

Avon Barrier : 21 March, 2011  (Company News)
Avon Barrier Company is focussing on risk assessment at Parkex, providing exhibition attendees with information on the use of parking barriers in the prevention of serious crimes including terrorism
Parkex Exhibition To See Vehicle Access Barriers From Avon

Avon Barrier Company has warned that parking areas and access routes to large public venues such as shopping malls, airports, stadiums, concert venues and tourist attractions need to consider a wide range of vehicle access control measures and are now targets for potential terrorist attack, where maximum chaos and casualties could occur.

The Company’s stand no P31 at Parkex, NEC, Birmingham, will be showing details of their full range of vehicle control barriers, from high usage parking barriers and general security barriers through to crash tested counter terrorism barriers capable of withstanding a truck travelling at 50MPH.

The range of rising arm barriers suitable for high usage parking environments starts with the EB450 and EB750 which provide durable and reliable vehicle access control suitable for continuous operation.  The barriers are capable of between 10-18,000 operations a day.

For access to areas with a high risk of terrorist or hostile attack such delivery areas or service areas or any other area that could cause mass casualty, should an incident occur, then Avon Barrier Company’s high security barriers have been proven in crash tests to PAS 68, resisting a 7500KG truck travelling at 30 / 50MPH. Models in this range include the EB950CR and EB1400CR.

Security gates provide another measure against determined attack and PAS 68 crash-tested sliding and hinged security gates are designed to withstand substantial direct impact forces, such as hostile vehicle attack.  The SG1500CR SG1100CR and GC1100CR PAS 68 High Impact Security Gates provide very robust heavily engineered protection for access routes, yet can be installed without the need for extensive civil engineering works, due to their shallow footings requirement.

Commenting on Avon Barrier Company’s Parkex stand, Joanne Smallwood, Marketing Manager, said; “Even everyday vehicle access should now be considered against potential terrorist attack and products specified accordingly.  While crash-tested, anti-terrorist options will never be the cheapest solution, they do provide an important level of confidence by offering a proven performance criteria which is vital for both the specifier and the people and sites being protected.”

Avon Barrier Company’s products are used extensively in public and private applications including airports, utilities, banks, stadiums, ports, shopping centres, government buildings, and state/royal residences. The company operates internationally and has its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Bristol, United Kingdom.
