Overtis appoints CEO for growth drive

Overtis Systems : 19 January, 2010  (Company News)
Industry specialist takes the helm at Overtis to deliver growth in international markets for the company's Enterprise Information Protection products
Overtis, a provider of enterprise information protection (EIP) technology, has announced the appointment of Ed Macnair as Chief Executive Officer. Macnair brings to the role more than two decades' experience in the global information security industry. He has a strong track record of driving aggressive international growth, most recently in his position as Chief Executive Officer of Marshal, a vendor of secure web gateway and email products that merged with 8e6 Technologies to create M86 Security.

Overtis is the vendor of advanced endpoint security technology that enforces user policies across all communication channels and integrates with physical security such as access control and CCTV. Macnair, based at Overtis' UK headquarters, will be responsible for developing strategic relationships to ensure the growth of the company and increasing market share for Overtis VigilancePro endpoint security products.

While at Marshal, Macnair steered the company through a management buy out in 2002. His focus on developing key channel partnerships and customer relationships in Europe, the US and APAC achieved spectacular growth in the company. In response to the increase in blended email and web threats to enterprise networks, he drove the merger of Marshal with US company, 8e6 Technologies, in 2008 and the acquisition of behavioural malware analysis technology vendor, Avinti, in 2009.

Macnair has also held global sales and senior management positions at security vendors, NetIQ, MessageLabs and IBM.

Commenting on Macnair's appointment, Andy Craig, Chairman, Overtis said, "We welcome Ed Macnair to Overtis and are delighted at having secured someone of his standing in the industry. We have the technology and executive experience to be the market leader in enterprise information protection and we look forward to working with Ed to take the company to the next level."

"I am extremely excited to be joining Overtis, I have been in this industry long enough to recognise a technology that genuinely solves enterprise and government security issues. VigilancePro not only provides comprehensive endpoint security, it also integrates with physical security, monitoring and access control systems," says Ed Macnair, "You only have to look at the Information Commissioner's latest annual report to see that, in spite of all the policies and education, data leakage through theft, loss, or accidental distribution has increased. We have a huge opportunity to solve that issue with our holistic approach to enterprise information protection."
