ONVIF Compliant High Definition Network Cameras

Samsung USA : 12 July, 2010  (New Product)
Four of the 1.3 megapixel cameras offered by Samsung in the USA, including box and dome cameras, are now compliant with the ONVIF open IP networking standard
Samsung Techwin America announces that four Samsung 1.3-megapixel high-definition (HD) network camera models conform to Open Network Video Interface (ONVIF) standards to ensure interoperability with other network components in system-wide solutions. Samsung's model SNB-5000 box camera, model SND-5080 dome camera, model SND-5080F flush-mount Dome camera and model SNV-5080 vandal-resistant Dome camera all conform to ONVIF standards that promote open-system communications among IP-based physical security devices regardless of manufacturer. Each model incorporates newly developed WiseNet Digital Signal Processing, provides 1280x1024 resolution, includes an H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG triple codec with multiple simultaneous streaming, and supplies maximum 30 frames-per-second video at HD resolution.

"We at Samsung support ONVIF's mission to facilitate integration in the network security environment based on a global open standard, and we are proud that our latest HD network cameras conform to that standard," said Samsung Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Frank DeFina. "Simplifying the path to open systems integration is a great benefit to both integrators and end-user customers. ONVIF compliance aligns perfectly with our goal to make use of Samsung's global presence as we become a top-tier security company in the US market."

The four ONVIF-compliant models are true day/night network cameras (using an infrared cut filter) and support 16:9 HD (720p) resolution. The dome models feature 2.8-10mm MegaPixel varifocal lenses (f1.2), and the model SNV-5080 vandal-resistant dome is IP66-rated to withstand harsh environments. Model SNV-5080 also provides a fan/heater for outdoor installation and is selectable for surface or flush mounting. Other features of all four progressive scan network cameras are bi-directional audio support, an SD memory slot for internal recording, intelligent video analytics, and power over Ethernet (PoE).
