On line file analysis for critical IT users in Government and Industry.

Norman Security : 12 July, 2007  (New Product)
Pro-active threat analysis and detection is now available on line for corporate and public sector IT professionals to protect their networks using Sandbox Analyzer features.
Norman Data Defense Systems has announced the availability of a new online security solution for corporate and government IT departments that require fast, effective and affordable file analysis to identify, reverse engineer and debug malware.

Offering the same powerful options and outputs as Norman's SandBox Analyzer product line, the Online Analyzer is a web-based analysis service which allows the customer to upload suspicious executable files to Norman's dedicated servers and then quickly supplies a comprehensive analysis of the file action. Reports, logs, and other outputs can immediately be viewed online or emailed to the user.

'The analyzer tools suite has received a great deal of interest from the market although a number of customers have found that they do not have the resources to implement the solutions in house. ,' stated David Robinson, Country Manager, UK and Ireland, Norman Data Defense Systems. 'Now, enterprises can subscribe to this online service and receive instant file analysis so they can protect their sensitive data cost-effectively.'

This service is targeted to customers who do not require the unlimited analysis capabilities of the Analyzer, are frequently away from designated malware analysis lab locations, or do not have a dedicated virus analysis lab and wish to let Norman supply the processing power.

At the core of SandBox Analyzer is Norman's SandBox Technology - a fully simulated computer and network within the application. Any file loaded into this simulated environment is deceived into behaving normally (e.g., infecting and deleting files, sending e-mails, setting up listening ports, copying itself over networks or connecting to an IRC server). As the file does this, each action is being recorded. Unlike other virtual environments, all simulation is securely contained within the emulator. No code is ever executed on the real CPU, and no other real system hardware components are accessed.

Norman's line of analyzer products includes also the SandBox Analyzer, SandBox Analyzer PRO, and the SandBox Reporter.
