On-demand e-mail screening for label manufacturer

Proofpoint On-Demand enables Labelon UK to focus its resources on its core business rather than on handling and managing e-mail
AN4 Group has announced the successful installation of a hosted email solution at respected fashion label manufacturer, Labelon UK.

Labelon UK has provided labels to the retail fashion industry for more than 20 years. The company has designed all aspects of its business to ensure it delivers the best service to its retail and manufacturing customers around the world from its six global offices.

Email is a critical tool for Labelon: it is the company's preferred method of communication, both for inter-company interaction and doing business with customers.

However, Labelon found itself flooded with huge amounts of spam at its Braintree, Essex headquarters, which was even causing its Exchange mail server to grind to a halt as it tried to cope with the influx of unwanted mail.

"We needed to remove the burden from the server, because it couldn't function," says David Nichols IT manager at Labelon UK.

Labelon had been using GFI MailEssentials anti-spam software on its server, so the firm's IT advisor, AN4 Group, recommended it replace this with Proofpoint's On-Demand Enterprise Solution to alleviate the pressure on its email server.

"Proofpoint on Demand is a cost-effective, anti-spam service, offering email security and data loss prevention as an easy-to-adopt and easy-to-manage hosted service," says Sales Director for AN4 Group, Kristian Connor. "It is an ideal solution for Labelon's requirements. It removes any pressure from the email server without requiring any installation of on-premise hardware or software. At the same time it offers anti-spam, anti-virus, email policy enforcement and data loss prevention capabilities."

"AN4 gave us a hell of a lot of help," says Nichols. "Especially through the testing phase, they really did test it as much as they could, worked through any issue, and got us into a position where we were happy to pay for it - they gave us support and advice all the way through."

Labelon is delighted with the new solution, and its server - alongside its workforce - is up and running again.

"The ProofPoint solution is picking up more spam than the installed GFI software, which just wasn't as good," says Nichols.

"The mail server is like a brand new machine," he adds. "It functions as it should do. There's been no sifting through rubbish spam. Email had been going down, but now productivity is up."

Indeed Labelon was so impressed with the Proofpoint solution that it has recommended it to the rest of the Group, and now Proofpoint is in use by Labelon offices as far a field as in Romania, Turkey, Mauritius, Hong Kong and China.

Indeed, the company can't stop spreading with word about Proofpoint, and is now recommending the solution to its partners!
