Non confrontational suspect interviews for Canadian police

Wicklander-Zulawski : 18 July, 2008  (Application Story)
Interview and interrogation techniques using non confrontational methods to be deployed in Canadian police interview suites to improve conviction rates based on successful interrogation techniques
Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates (WZ) has expanded its non-confrontational interview and interrogation training throughout Canada to meet the demands of Canadian law enforcement organisations.

"Our recent work with Canadian authorities has led to a measurable increase in the number of confessions and subsequent convictions," said Shane Sturman CFI, president of Wicklander-Zulawski. "Based on this success, we are now working to introduce other Canadian law enforcement agencies to the non-confrontational interrogation approach, to help increase confessions and convictions on a broader scale."

Alain Turbide, a Sergeant with the Quebec Provincial Police (Surete du Quebec), has already experienced measurable results from using the WZ non-confrontational approach. "After participating at a WZ Seminar in Florida this past March, I immediately applied my new interviewing skills, using the non-confrontational technique, and successfully obtained five consecutive confessions", said Turbide.

WZ is demonstrating its unique interrogation technique in a series of Canadian events including the International Conference for Police and Law Enforcement Executives, the International Conference on Investigative Interviewing, and the upcoming Annual Canadian Association of Police Polygraphists Conference, where WZ will present a two-day non-confrontational interview and interrogation seminar.

While expanding its reach throughout Canada, WZ continues to evolve its interview and interrogation methodology and training seminars worldwide. As a direct result of the changing needs of law enforcement agencies, WZ has added several cutting-edge courses, including Correctional Interviewing, Tactical Interview and Interrogation and D.O.A. Death Investigations.

"As the premier consulting and training company in the field of non-confrontational interview and interrogation, it is our goal to develop new programs based on real-world needs, and present these techniques in a variety of forums - to make them accessible to as many law-enforcement agencies as possible, throughout Canada and worldwide," concluded Sturman.
