No limits off premises data protection vault

Unitrends : 17 December, 2009  (New Product)
Recovery 7 series of appliances from Unitrends provides archiving and de-duplication capability without limits with the added advantage of WAN bandwidth optimisation
Unitrends, a provider of affordable, heterogeneous D2D (Disk-to-Disk) and D2D2D (Disk-to-Disk-to-Disk)-based data protection appliances, has announced the Recovery-7 Series data protection vault and cross-vault (replication) appliances. Offering the unique No Limits licensing model that isn't limited on a protected storage or client basis, the new off-premise data protection appliances support advanced in-flight data Deduplication for optimized WAN performance.

"While today's mid-size organization needs the data protection assurance of rotational archiving, they often can't afford the costly manual time traditional archiving methods require," said Dr. Mark Campbell, chief operating officer, Unitrends. "We have designed our new series of vault and cross-vault appliances to automate the replication process in a way that dramatically reduces operational expense. We've matched this powerful technology with a compelling licensing model that eliminates restrictions on storage capacity or clients so that customers have the freedom they need to protect their data without the hidden costs of traditional data protection options."

Unitrends vaulting solutions are offered for two replication choices: vaulting and cross-vaulting. The Recovery-7 Series vault appliances automatically and seamlessly transfer data from an on-premise to an off-premise location for homogeneous small and medium replicated branch operations. The Recovery-7 Series cross-vault appliances provide a two-way transfer for heterogeneous small and medium branch operations. Both appliances feature advanced in-flight data Deduplication to optimize WAN bandwidth between premises.

Unitrends' Recovery-7 Series Data Protection Vaults and Cross-Vaults include:

* Recovery-710v and Recovery-710cv - Featuring 3TB of unformatted capacity, these Recovery-7 Series appliances are rack mounted with a 1U form factor containing 4 cold-swap drive bays, a quad core CPU, 8GB of memory, and 3TB disk capacity (4 x 1.5TB in a RAID-10), single gigabit Ethernet controller, an eSATA port for optional D2D2D (Disk-to-Disk-to-Disk) seeding, and a single 520W power supply.

* Recovery-720v and Recovery-720cv - Featuring 6TB of unformatted capacity, these Recovery-7 Series appliances are rack mounted with a 2U form factor containing 2 internal drives configured as a RAID-1, 6 hot-swap drive bays, a quad core CPU, 8GB of memory, and 6TB disk capacity (6 x 1.5TB in a RAID-6), dual gigabit Ethernet controller, and a dual 500W power supply.

* Recovery-730v and Recovery-730cv - Featuring 15TB of unformatted capacity, these Recovery-7 Series appliances are rack mounted with a 3U form factor containing 2 internal drives configured as a RAID-1, 12 hot-swap drive bays, a quad core CPU, 8GB of memory, and 15TB disk capacity (12 x 1.5TB in a RAID-12), dual gigabit Ethernet controller, and a dual 500W power supply.

The on-premises logical appliance of the Unitrends' Recovery-7 Series Data Protection Cross-Vaults also includes an integrated data protection software suite consisting of Rapid Recovery Console with BareMetal, file, Exchange, and SQL data protection capabilities as well as advanced compression and AES 256-bit encryption.

Unitrends' Recovery-7 Series Data Protection Vaults and Cross Vaults are available this month with pricing starting at an MSRP of $9,995 for a fully-integrated Recovery-710v. The Unitrends Recovery-7 Series Data Protection Vault and Cross-Vault appliances also offer Unitrends' "Off-Premises No Limits data protection licensing, a radically simple licensing approach that gives users freedom to store as much on the device as they wish until the physical capacity is full.
