New Directors join EEMA board

European E-Identity Management Conference : 22 September, 2009  (Company News)
The European Association for E-Identity and Security swells its board with new members taking the roles of vice-Chairmen
eema, the European association for e-identity and security, announces Jon Shamah and Robert Garskamp are elected with immediate effect to the role of Vice Chairmen. They join the Board of Directors with representatives from UK, Russia, Belgium, Sweden and The Netherlands that shape eema's campaign agenda, in the interests of its 160 member organisations.

Jon Shamah is a Professional Consultant and EMEA Sales Manager of the eSecurity division at BBS (Norway). A member of eema since 2005 he has a proven track record of success and specific expertise in identity management; as well as expert knowledge of national e-ID schemes, e-Border initiatives and e-Passports. Earlier this year he was the recipient of eema's prestigious Fellowship Award, in recognition of his services to European e-identity and services to eema.

Also a member of eema since 2005 Robert Garskamp is a Project Manager at Everett, a consultancy-organisation that specialises in identity and access management, SOA, security, application integration, search and portal solutions. In 2008, Everett were presented with the eema Award for Excellence, for its role in the SURF foundation project, that delivers a large-scale identity federation service for higher education and research throughout The Netherlands.

Chairman of eema, David Goodman comments: "We congratulate Robert Gaskamp and Jon Shamah for their deserved successful nominations. The representatives elected to the eema Board of Directors are voted by its membership and all consider it a privilege to hold this position." Goodman adds: "As the voice of 160 organisations and well in excess of 1,500 individuals, eema has a hugely important role in educating, opinion forming and influencing stakeholders across EU member states, in order to achieve its long term ambition of a truly interoperable e-identity initiative across Europe."

The Board of Directors will next meet at the 11th annual Information Security Solutions Europe (ISSE) that takes place at The Hague (Den Haag), The Netherlands, on 6th to the 8th October.
