Network Video Encoder Designed for Harsh Environments

Extreme temperatures, vibrations and sudden shocks can severely compromise the performance of a video encoder resulting in lost images or complete video loss. For video surveillance applications where these harsh conditions exist - such as military, industrial plants, railway stations, ITS, remote site surveillance, perimeter or traffic monitoring - the Moxa VPort 461-ON-T video encoder excels with its combination of rugged mission-critical design and excellent video quality.

"As cities transition to network infrastructure, we are seeing many agencies, such as the Department of Transportation, migrating from analogue CCTV to IP Video. These agencies are able to connect the existing PTZ and fixed analogue cameras to Moxa IP encoders allowing the video to be transmitted efficiently over the network," said Joe Cook, Business Development Manager, Moxa Americas. The VPort 461-ON-T features an industry leading 5-year manufacturer's warranty with the encoder having a MTBF (mean time between failures) of 375,000 hours."  
 
The VPort 461-ON-T single channel industrial video encoder features highly efficient H.264 video compression, enabling the transmission of superior live or recorded video with video latency under 200ms -- all without taxing the network's bandwidth. In addition, it can provide up to three video streams simultaneously for use in viewing, recording, and analyzing in either H.264 or MJPEG.
 
Because the VPort 461-ON-T is ONVIF compliant, it allows for standardization and interoperability with VMS software partners as well as ONVIF compliant NVR network video recorders. In addition, it comes equipped with Moxa's innovative DynaStream function for minimizing bandwidth consumption of the video transmission by automatically increasing or decreasing the video frame rate by the system settings or a system administrator.

Standard video encoders have a tendency to fail in harsh environments where sensitive electronics can freeze or overheat. The VPort 461-ON-T is designed to excel in harsh conditions and is protected by a host of advancements that empower it to digitize analog video signals and transmit them over an IP network in the wide operating temperature range of -40 to 75 °C, these advancements include:

* Two (2) Ethernet ports for cascade and port redundancy;
* One (1) RS-232/422/485 COM port for controlling external serial devices;
* Redundant 12/24 VDC and 24 VAC power inputs for greater reliability;
* Metal housing with IP30 protection against dust;
* DIN-Rail mounting option;
* NEMA TS2, Section 2 requirements.

In addition, the VPort 461-ON-T features an SD card slot for local storage. In the event the network is down and video streams cannot be transmitted, video is stored locally.
