Nebulas Solutions demos automatic provisioning of virtual servers for first time

Nebulas Solutions : 17 March, 2009  (New Product)
Nebulas Solutions Group is launching the first UK demonstration of automatic provisioning for virtual servers.
Achieved by integrating F5 and virtual technologies, Nebulas Solutions is the first UK company to show virtual servers which self provision: starting up or powering down, to meet specific needs and demands. By combining virtual server capabilities with F5's application delivery expertise, the demonstration allows Nebulas Solutions to show customers how a virtual infrastructure can automatically handle peaks and troughs in demand; processing power is added at critical/busy periods and reduced when demand lessens without the need for external intervention.

Whilst currently a proof of concept, Nick Garlick, managing director at Nebulas Solutions is confident that customers will see its benefits immediately. Garlick commented: "We're operating in very difficult times and customers are very keen to get more from their IT infrastructure than ever before. This new installation clearly shows how to do this. Virtual machines already offer cost savings, but by adding this level of automatic provisioning, systems can become far more responsive to the demands of the business. Customers see the cost saving potential and are very interested: we're currently booking at least two new visits to the Demo Lab each week".

Owen Cole, F5's technical director for UK and Ireland, who is confident that Nebulas' ability to demonstrate the technology will appeal to customers, said: "Combining F5 solutions with virtual technology shows how seamless, dynamic demand can be managed effectively. Being able to walk customers through this is invaluable, especially in the current climate, as it clearly demonstrates ROI, ahead of an investment decision. As well as cost savings, the ability to automatically control a virtualised infrastructure brings tremendous flexibility, whilst freeing IT resource to focus on competitive innovation. We'll be working closely with Nebulas Solutions to help customers as they implement this technology".

The demonstration forms part of Nebulas Solutions' highly equipped Demo Lab at the company's London headquarters. The demonstration has been designed to help customers analyse and test functionality, experiment and investigate different technologies in a 'safe' environment. Customers are also encouraged to bring their own equipment to the Lab, so it can be compared with different vendors' offerings and tested against a wide range of competitive products.
