NATO information assurance listing for software encryption

BeCrypt : 11 July, 2013  (Company News)
DISK protection foundation encryption software from BeCrypt gains entry into NATO information assurance product catalogue
NATO information assurance listing for software encryption

Becrypt has become the first and only UK supplier of encryption software technology to be listed in the prestigious NATO Information Assurance Product Catalogue (NIAPC) for its DISK Protect Foundation solution.  NIAPC provides NATO nations, NATO civil and military bodies with a list of certified products that are in use or available for procurement to meet stringent operational requirements.

Inclusion in the catalogue recognises Becrypt’s success in the industry and growing prominence in new markets outside the UK.  Last year, the company gained certification for its DISK Protect Baseline product from the Council of the European Union (EU) for handling information classified at Impact Level 3 (RESTRICTED).  In March this year, Becrypt achieved yet another milestone when DISK Protect Foundation was independently evaluated and certified by CESG, the Information Security Arm of GCHQ, under the organisation’s Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) scheme.

Bernard Parsons, CEO at Becrypt said, “We are delighted to be included in
NATO’s catalogue. As the very first and, so far, only UK supplier to be recognised for providing these software encryption capabilities, it highlights our innovative approach to working with the industry to attain the very highest standards in security.  Building on the work we have done with the CESG, our latest achievement offers huge commercial potential for us.  It opens up new markets outside the UK and gives purchasers the confidence that the product they are buying has an assurance to protect their data wherever they are.”

A spokesman for CESG said, “We are pleased to see the first CPA-certified product on the NATO catalogue. By evaluating commercial off-the-shelf security products against strong standards, CPA gives assurance that its Foundation Grade products help to keep UK data safe in cyberspace - a key aim of the Government's Cyber Security Strategy. Inclusion on the catalogue means this security product is now available for purchase by all 28 NATO countries directly. It’s great to see a UK company being recognised outside its home territory and we congratulate Becrypt on their latest achievement.”

Becrypt supplies a range of award winning, innovative cyber security products designed to protect sensitive information throughout an organisation, on the desktop, at the end point and when in transit or being shared with trusted third parties.  Becrypt’s products are approved by CESG for use with all levels of Government data, right up to Impact Level 6 (TOP SECRET).
