Multi-Modal Mobile Biometric Platform

Human Recognition Systems : 09 June, 2010  (New Product)
HRS has linked iris, face and fingerprint recognition technology to fulfil a range of biometric identity requirements in the field including the matching and identity of latent fingerprints in forensic biometric applications
Biometric and identity management consultancy Human Recognition Systems has launched a mobile biometric platform (MBP) - a multi-modal software solution designed to support the latest military-specification biometric devices.

The platform links mobile biometric units that link iris, face and fingerprint technology to a central database using secure wired or wireless transmission technology and can be configured to meet the needs of a wide range of scenarios.

Forensic biometric applications are also supported, allowing latent fingerprints to be captured, transmitted and instantly checked against centrally held records.

The system also allows fixed biometric identity controls to be established at control points such as military base access points, ensuring that only authorised individuals are allowed access.

The system, which has been designed in response to the specific needs of field operatives, is currently in active service with military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lee Hannis, head of National Security at HRS, said: "We are helping defence forces involved in conflict situations and peace keeping activities around the globe by developing military-specific identity management systems to ensure safer environments and improve situational awareness for soldiers and armed forces staff.

"The mobile biometric platform not only increases the mobility and reliability of identity checks, but puts armed forces on the front foot when it comes to combating insurgency by enabling centrally managed biometric, biographic and contextual data to be analysed and distributed quickly.

"By enrolling suspects and detainees onto the system, patterns of behaviour can be analysed over periods of time delivering a powerful intelligence based tool which enables fast accurate decision making across the military forces."
