Mobile baggage scanner on show at Transec World Expo

3DX-Ray : 20 May, 2009  (New Product)
The FlatScan battery operated mobile x-ray screening system for baggage scanning and other applications will be showcased at Transec World in Amsterdam
See our events guide listing for more details

3DX-Ray will be showcasing its innovative FlatScan x-ray technology on its stand at the Transec World Expo in Amsterdam, 3-4 June 2009. The FlatScan-TPXi/POD system incorporates two industry firsts. The system is not only the world’s first dual purpose x-ray screening system, that can be used both as a portable explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit, and as a high resolution, mobile baggage scanning system. It is also the first device of its kind to be entirely battery powered.

3DX-Ray’s FlatScan-TPXi is a robust lightweight and portable x-ray system that can be used as a stand-alone device for EOD purposes. However, the FlatScan-TPXi can also be incorporated into the FlatScan-POD to be used as a high resolution baggage scanner. The FlatScan-POD is battery operated and fully mobile allowing it to be deployed in areas unsuitable for conventional baggage scanners.

Nick Fox, CTO at 3DX-RAY commented, “The FlatScan system has been designed to meet the specific needs of security operatives working in challenging public situations where existing solutions were inadequate. Through working closely with our customers we have been able to deliver a product that has been fully optimised for the demands of these public scenarios.”

Nick Fox will also be speaking at Transec 2009 on the 3rd of June at the Passenger and Cabin Screening Workshop, where he will discuss the issues related to screening at mass transit locations. It was these issues that led 3DX-Ray to develop the FlatScan-POD with capabilities specifically suited to such deployments. Whether the Flatscan-TPXi is deployed on its own, or as part of the POD, the FlatScan system offers the largest detector area available on the market and delivers high quality images with a range of image processing functions to enhance any scan.

Already in use in railway stations across the UK, the FlatScan system is also suitable for use in stadia, public or corporate buildings and for customs or border control.
