Customers of Mitel using the company's VoIP and corporate network communication systems will gain protection from next-generation firewalls supplied by WatchGuard Technologies
Mitel Takes WatchGuard Firewalls For Unified Communications Protections

WatchGuard Technologies will provide next-generation firewall appliances for businesses using Mitel unified communications (UC) solutions to deliver protection for Voice over IP (VoIP) as well as their corporate networks, applications and data. By having SIP and H.323 proxy protection, WatchGuard XTM appliances can prevent a multitude of VoIP threats, including denial of service attacks, spam over Internet telephony (SPIT), voice service theft, registration hijacking, eavesdropping, directory harvesting, voice phishing (vishing) and more.

“As more and more customers move to converged, unified networks, the requirement for security to match becomes ever more critical,” said Jamie Pearce, WatchGuard Technologies, Regional Sales Manager UK & Ireland. “WatchGuard next-generation firewalls meet these demands, providing voice, data and application security in a high performance, integrated firewall appliance - giving our partners and customers the essential VoIP protection they need.”

“Providing best in class security for business communications is important,” said Paul Blide, vice-president Mitel DataNet CommSource.  “Working with firewall appliance vendors like WatchGuard is a logical choice because their systems offer our customers the highest degree of performance, flexibility, reliability and most importantly protection for their business.”

“WatchGuard is pleased to be working with Mitel by offering its extensible threat management (XTM) solutions to the market,” said Tim Helming, Director of Product Management at WatchGuard Technologies.  “As the first vendor to offer comprehensive SIP and H.323 proxies, WatchGuard is in a unique position to best protect today’s unified communications environments.”
