Middle Eastern customer places follow on order for further ZBVs

American Science And Engineering : 23 February, 2009  (Application Story)
Multiple Z Backscatter Vans to be supplied to Middle Eastern customer to expand on its existing inventory of advanced X-Ray screening systems from American Science and Engineering
American Science and Engineering has announced the receipt of a $2.9 million order from an existing Middle Eastern customer for multiple Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV). The ZBVs will also be configured for harsh environments.

"We are very pleased that this customer chose to add to their existing fleet of ZBVs to secure government facilities," said Anthony Fabiano, AS&E President and CEO. "The ZBV provides this Middle Eastern customer with unmatched mobility and versatility to face a broad range of security challenges. We continue to see increased awareness internationally in the power of AS&E's Z Backscatter technology to quickly and effectively detect border threats such as explosives, weapons, drugs, and stowaways."

A breakthrough in X-ray detection technology, AS&E's Z Backscatter Van is the Number One selling non-intrusive mobile inspection system on the market. ZBV is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections. The system's unique "drive-by" capability allows one or two operators to conduct X-ray imaging while the ZBV drives past suspect vehicles and objects. For personnel safety in dangerous environments, a remote console is available for operating the system in stationary mode from a distance of up to 500 meters.
