McAfee Opens New Facility in Ireland

McAfee : 17 May, 2010  (Company News)
EMEA Sales Team at McAfee swells in recent months with new facility in Ireland consolidating the company's presence in the EMEA market
McAfee has announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in City Gate, Mahon, Cork. This follows the company's September 2009 announcement of the creation of 100 new jobs with its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) inside sales team. Following a successful period of recent recruitment, the McAfee EMEA sales team has now expanded from 180 to 280 employees.

"I'm thrilled to be here in Cork today, along with Batt O'Keeffe, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, and our President and Chief Executive Officer, Dave DeWalt," said David Quantrell, president of EMEA, McAfee. "The new office really consolidates our presence here in Cork and I look forward to many years of working with the team here in Ireland. Since we established our presence six years ago, this team has not only been at the heart of much of what the company does in EMEA, but also our Asia Pacific and international markets."

McAfee has had significant operations in Cork since 2004, with its previous Irish headquarters located at EastGate, Little Island. The inside sales organization was created with the support of the Irish Development Agency and will service mid market customers across the region.

"I am delighted to be here today to officially open the EMEA centre for McAfee," said O'Keeffe. "This investment by the company is excellent news for the South-West and further secures Ireland's place as a leading location for the Information Communications Technology Sector. McAfee offers excellent career opportunities to the Cork, and wider South-West communities and recruitment is already well underway. This is a significant endorsement by a leading technology company of its Irish operations, in line with the Government's Smart Economy strategy, and a major vote of confidence in Ireland's ability to deliver McAfee's future growth and development worldwide."

"Our new office location and continued recruitment efforts in Cork validate our commitment to Ireland and the local workforce," said DeWalt. "I'm extremely proud of the Cork operation and the talented team that work here. Through our recent recruitment process, we have selected many innovative and highly motivated professionals that have both strong educational backgrounds and multilingual abilities. The people we employ here are really a strong foundation for our success."

"The creation of an additional 100 jobs by McAfee since September 2009 demonstrates Ireland's continued ability to provide a nurturing environment where leading-edge corporations can continue to expand," said Barry O'Leary, IDA chief executive officer. "The Cork operation has gone from strength to strength since its establishment here in 2004 and on behalf of IDA Ireland I look forward to working closely with the company to ensure the continued development of the Irish facility."

Now almost twice its previous size, the McAfee office in Cork is the headquarters for much of the company's international operations, including global localization and product readiness, EMEA finance, procurement, operations and logistics for EMEA and Asia Pacific, as well as EMEA inside sales. This move now reinforces the role the Cork site plays for McAfee as the heart of much its international and pan-EMEA activity.
