Maritime Surveillance Summit to be held in Florida

The IDGA has lined up key industrial speakers to address delegates attending the Maritime Surveillance Latin America Summit in Miami in late October
Preparations are well underway for the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) Maritime Surveillance Latin America Summit scheduled for October 26-28, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida.

Some key officials that will speak at the event include:

* Brigadier General David Fadok, USAF - Director for Policy & Strategy, US Southcom.
* Michael Kostelnik, Major General, USAF (Ret) - Assistant Commissioner, Customs and Border Protection
* Commodore Gary Best, MSM - Chief of Defence, Guyana Coast Guard
* Commander Fran Cloe, USN - OGMSA Latin American Outreach & Coordination
* Commander David Edwards, USN - Marlu-Latam Southcom
* Captain Jorge Vargas Guerra - Capitán de Navío, Perú (Peruvian Navy)
* Bill Johnson - Executive Director, Port of Miami
* Ted Venable - COMUSNAVSO/COMFOURTHFLT, CNT Program Manager
* Guy Thomas - Science and Technology Advisor, Global Maritime Awareness, OGMSA
* Senior naval procurement and policy officials from the Brazilian Navy (representative's name to be confirmed)

"We're thrilled at the response the Summit has received so far. Multiple representatives from domestic and regional Coast Guards and Navies have already confirmed their participation," remarked Luis Hernandez, Program Director at IDGA. "We have attendees from Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Guyana, Canada, USA, and even Norway," he concluded.

IDGA's Maritime Surveillance Latin America is the foremost event for the Latin American maritime community. The event focuses on creating partnerships in Latin American maritime domain awareness, maritime security, and maritime surveillance.
