Management move aimed at developing Government business opportunities

Datacard Group : 13 January, 2010  (Company News)
Senior Vice President at Datacard moves into new role of Senior Vice President, Government Business Development in global identity
Datacard Group has announced the formation of a new development team that will partner with the company's regional sales resources to develop new business opportunities in the government market.

Wim TappijGielen, currently Datacard Group's Senior Vice President of Global Sales, will assume the new role of Senior Vice President, Government Business Development and head up a team of industry experts that will be focused exclusively on global government applications including national ID, passport, driver's license and other secure government identification applications.

"Wim has been with Datacard for more than 20 years and has driven some of our most important ID and passport sales initiatives, as well as inspiring new product development for the market," said Todd Wilkinson, President and CEO of Datacard Group. "It's a rare luxury to have that kind of experience within an organization, and this new role will allow Wim to truly focus on this critical aspect of our business."

As one of the pioneers in the card industry in the Netherlands, Mr TappijGielen started his career in 1969 developing card related solutions for the banking, retail and health care industries. In 1981 he joined DeLaRue and became the Managing Director for their card operations in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In 1989 TappijGielen joined Datacard Group as their Regional Vice President of sales and service for Europe Middle-East, India and Africa. During his tenure, Datacard Group has established a major position in secure ID and Passport solutions.

As previously announced, John Di Leo has joined Datacard Group as the new Senior Vice President of Global sales. In his new role, TappijGielen will report directly to Mr Di Leo.
