Managed Multi-Factor Tokenless Authentication Technology

Swivel Secure : 21 May, 2010  (New Product)
Swivel Secure launches PINsafe, a tokenless authentication service available in the UK
Swivel Secure, a pioneer in tokenless authentication solutions has announced the launch of a Managed Service based on its award winning PINsafe multi-factor technology.

The new service is being launched together with Swivel's long standing UK distribution partner Sphinx and is part of the company's drive to increase its penetration within the UK security channel; providing existing resellers with a simple way to enter the evolving security-as-a-service market as well as for established managed service providers to add an additional revenue stream with minimal upfront investment.

Swivel has seen a rapid increase in business over the past 3 years as more organisations have begun to adopt stronger authentication to meet new security compliance standards such as PCI and the Government's Code of Connection. The company has also benefited from the decline in popularity of the ubiquitous ID token, which is now seen by many as incompatible with the universal growth in mobile phone and widespread wireless Internet availability.

Swivel PINsafe was one of the first two-factor authentication technologies to seriously challenge the established market dominance of RSA's Secure-ID, token based systems and now has its own extensive global user-base. PINsafe's flexibility and scalability are key features of the technology bringing it more in line with current market demands for an agile and low cost approach to managing network remote access.

UK Channel Director at Swivel, Sarah McNicol commented "Increasing numbers of resellers and MSSPs we speak to are looking for solutions to meet the demand for a low cost, strong authentication system particularly when its license-renewal time for their token-based technologies. Many are also recognising the business potential represented by the trend in moving everything into the cloud. The PINsafe Managed Service has been packaged to enable resellers to exploit these high revenue opportunities to the full and gain a share of the multi-million pound authentication market."

The new Managed Service includes PINsafe's full range of user interface options, including mobile and image based authentication models. The different user interface options can be assigned to different users based on corporate security and access policies.

The 24/7/365 service platform has been built using fully resilient architecture and is designed to support tens of thousands of users. With no single point of failure the service employs a fault tolerant Operating Systems running on Tier 1 server platforms accessing data from a resilient SANS. Protected by resilient firewalls and with constant monitoring of network traffic, router loading and application behaviour the service offers round the clock availability with maximum security for users.

The PINsafe managed service further extends the range of options available to the growing number of organisations that need to add strong authentication to their remote access and network security infrastructure.

PINsafe is a highly flexible and scalable system used by large global enterprises, public sector bodies and smaller businesses to confirm the identity of authorised IT users when they need to access their corporate network resources, particularly when outside the perimeter security shield. Developed in the UK and one of the first strong authentication solutions to use mobile phone and browser based methodologies instead of tokens to present a one-time-code for each login attempt, PINsafe is now in use in virtually every country in the world with hundreds of thousands of individual users.

Typically deployed to provide enhanced authentication for VPN access as well as secure Web portals and Web based applications PINsafe already operates with a wide range of world-class network access technology vendors including Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and Juniper.
