Low noise network appliance for small office users

Axiomtek : 10 December, 2009  (New Product)
The NA-813 appliance from Axiomtek for VPN, firewall or Unified Threat Management operates virtually noiselessly
Low noise network appliance for small office users
Axiomtek's NA-813 is a power-efficient yet noiseless network appliance platform running on the Intel Atom N270 processor 1.6GHz with 512K L2 cache. With compact-housing only 44 x 220 x 151 mm in size, the NA-813 offers four Gigabit Ethernet ports with optional LAN bypass function. The built-in Hyper-threading function and SpeedStep technology help reducing costly downtime and maximize uptime. One 200-pin SODIMM socket supports up to 2GB DDR2 400/533 of system memory. With operating temperatures of up to 45°C, the NA-813 is a high-flexible, low-power, cost-effective SOHO (Small Office Home Office) network appliance platform for VPN, content filtering, UTM, intrusion detection/ prevention systems, gateway antivirus, and firewalls.

"Because SOHO users usually work in crowded environments, we adopt an ultra low-noise fan (below 15db) in our NA-813 to achieve good thermal performance and noiseless operation, even CPU and networking in full load," said Philip Wei, Product Manager of Applied Computing Platforms Business Unit at Axiomtek. "Powered by the new Intel Atom N270 processor and Intel 945GSE Express chipset, its built-in Hyper-threading function and SpeedStep technology helps reducing costly downtime and maximize uptime. To ensure an uninterrupted network connection, the NA-813 supports an optional bypass function which is activated automatically when system is powered down or off. It also features function of BIOS redirection to console port."

In order to provide the best network performance and best utilization, the NA-813 has powerful storage interfaces, including one 2.5in SATA HDD and CompactFlash, and one MiniPCI Express slots (optional) is available for expansion. Other I/O features includes one front-facing RS-232 DB-9 console port and two USB 2.0 ports, and front-facing LED indicators that monitor power and HDD activities. The ultra low power network platform also features function of BIOS redirection to console port. Moreover, the mainstream Linux kernel 2.6 embedded operating systems are supported.
