Locksmith award for biometric palm reader.

TDSi : 27 November, 2007  (New Product)
TDSi picks up award from Master Locksmith's Association for biometric vascular recognition system, PalmGarde.
Access control specialist TDSi has collected a prestigious award from the Master Locksmith's Association, with PalmGarde, the company's new palm vein reader, winning the Best Electronic Security Access Control Product Award at the Security Live 2007 show.

Simon Griffiths, one of the Security Live organisers, said: "The judges were looking for innovative products that offered practical solutions to the security industry; PalmGarde is a great example of this."

PalmGarde is one of the first physical access control products to incorporate Fujitsu's PalmSecure sensor, and operates by reading and processing the palm vein pattern; this lies beneath the epidermis and so can't be distorted by skin damage. In so doing, it delivers true contact-free biometric technology, offering a hygienic, user-friendly solution for any public area.

The reader delivers extraordinarily high standards of accuracy, boasting a false rejection rate of 0.01% and a false acceptance rate less than 0.00008%. Fully scaleable, PalmGarde has an industry standard reader interface, making it capable of being added to the majority of existing access control system without the need to replace equipment; alternatively, the reader may be used in a single door application, operating as a fully independent, stand alone unit.

Collecting the award, TDSi's Product Manager, Duncan Gooch said: "We are delighted that PalmGarde has been recognised by the MLA in this way. The reader offers a great combination of improved security, high performance, reduced cost of operation and user friendly performance. Combined with our eXguard Pro software, it represents a great solution for building owners, security professionals and installers".
