LifeLock recruits former White House lawyer

Legal professional with extensive government experience joins Identity Theft protection company as its General Counsel
Having the right people in place to lead has been the key to LifeLock's success as the industry leader in identity theft protection, as the organization continues to deliver its world-class customer service to the members it serves. LifeLock has recently added the position of general counsel to its executive leadership team--a position that Clarissa Cerda, former assistant counsel to President Clinton has been hired to fill.

With more than 16 years of experience in law, negotiation and strategic advising, the former White House lawyer and technology company executive will provide legal direction and lobbying strategy for the Tempe, Ariz.-based company.

"Clarissa has a proven track record of advising technology companies and helping them achieve great success, and we are honored to welcome her to our team," said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. Prior to coming to LifeLock, Cerda served as vice president, general counsel and chief privacy officer for Initiate Systems and was the vice president, general counsel and assistant secretary for Open Port Technology. Before her work in the technology sector, she was a corporate and securities partner in the national law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, and served as assistant counsel to the President of the United States from 1993 to 1995. Cerda serves on the board of directors of MCCA (Minority Corporate Counsel Association) and as the co-chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association's Presidential Commission on the Status of Latinas in the Profession. She graduated from Harvard College with a bachelor's degree in government and earned a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Western Australia. She received a juris doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School and undertook post-doctoral studies in European community law at l'Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Cerda comes to LifeLock with extensive experience in a wide variety of corporate, technology, securities and commercial matters, including software licensing, privacy matters, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, private equity financing and general corporate governance matters.
