LifeKeeper available through UK Sage dealer

SteelEye Technology : 11 March, 2008  (Company News)
Popular disaster recovery software from SteelEye to be made available to UK customers through Taylor Made Technology
Taylor Made Technology has found a route to growth and added value for its customers, through the resale of SteelEye LifeKeeper for failover, data replication and disaster recovery alongside its business and accounting systems. Having recently won the SAGE customer service 'Circle of Excellence' award, the addition of SteelEye LifeKeeper to Taylor Made Technology's solution offering is designed to increase its services for a growing customer base.

East Midlands based reseller Taylor Made Technology offers software, hardware and support services to over 350 local customers. To date its business has been built on high customer retention through providing excellent pre and post sales support. Last year Taylor Made Technology grew turnover 15% and the aim is to increase that by 20% for 2008. Following the recent merger with ConCentrix, another East Midlands SAGE reseller, Taylor Made Technology's customer size is typically increasing to 12-15 accounting seats. It has identified a requirement for failover and support alongside its business solutions, and has responded with greater expertise and a product aimed at the mid-market.

'Support and technical knowledge is essential to this market - the flexibility to add a failover system that tailors to the existing infrastructure and is not prescriptive was vital', said Martin Stannage, General Manager at Taylor Made Technology. 'Taylor Made Technology is very focused on supporting customers. Out of 23 staff, 14 are in support roles. We use SteelEye LifeKeeper in house - our 'use it and talk about it policy' gives everyone confidence in the product.'

Taylor Made Technology had pondered for a couple of years on how best to offer mirroring for its mid market customers. Having investigated a number of solutions, from simple replication software to complex server clustering, for its customer Kocher & Beck who manufacture die cutting tools, Taylor Made Technology found SteelEye LifeKeeper though a recommendation from IBM. LifeKeeper provides data protection and application monitoring with automatic seamless failover to a second sever within seconds. For Kocher & Beck it is protecting the SQL database and SAGE accounts application as well as its critical production Excel worksheets.

'Adding resilience to our IT system was essential - if manufacturing stops for several hours the loss of our customer confidence would be significant because we operate in a very fast turn around market - if we fail to deliver, we are out,' said Alex Johnson, IT Systems Manager at Kocher & Beck UK. 'The 'can do' attitude of Taylor Made is exceptional - The approach is very much let's find the right product and see it working in a real situation to make sure it is suitable. As soon as we saw the SteelEye LifeKeeper demonstrated in a working environment we knew it was the right solution. Key to the installation process was technical support from SteelEye partner, Open Minds, who configured LifeKeeper correctly for SQL Server and told us about key issues from the start.'

SteelEye LifeKeeper is available to the channel through SteelEye's Competence and Support Centre partner, Open Minds.

'Customer issues become our issues and we need to make sure they are resolved so having technical support from SteelEye's expert support partner, Open Minds, is excellent - they know the LifeKeeper product back to front and their service level matches our high standard,' concluded Stannage of Taylor Made.

'Actively offering failover, resilience and data protection as part of business proposals to customers is a great way to grow and maintain repeat business. The added value SteelEye offers the channel includes sales and technical support and training from our Support and Competence Centre partner Open Minds. We are experts in failover and disaster recovery across a number of platforms and we are keen to help resellers look after their customers,' commented John Banfield, Director EMEA of SteelEye Technology.
