Lensec supplies cameras for Washington's safe city program.

LenSec : 04 December, 2007  (Application Story)
Strategically positioned wireless camera units supply feeds to mobile police units and laptop devices to assist in Washington's crime reduction program.
LenSec announces their involvement in Safe City Federal Way (Washington), a project that will usher in a new era of community policing.

Brian Wilson, Federal Way Police Chief, said, "We are excited about the Safe City program and believe it will play a key role in our crime reduction strategy and in our city's economic redevelopment plan. LenSec's city-wide public safety camera solution will allow us to more efficiently and effectively respond to situations, resulting in a safe community."

Safe City Federal Way will utilise 25 wireless cameras set in strategic locations within an approximate 1-square mile of the downtown area. Each camera will be accessible from any computer accessed by the Federal Way Police, including laptops located in each patrol vehicle. The goal of these cameras is to catch criminals while 'in the act' and to emphasize that the City of Federal Way is not a friendly city for criminals.

"Federal Way's vision to utilize technology in their overall crime reduction plan is a model for other cities to follow," states Keith Drummond, LenSec Chief Executive Officer. "For the past ten years LenSec has worked with local government leaders across the country to develop solutions that support public safety. We are proud to be the solution selected by the City of Federal Way and look forward to supporting their innovative approach to protecting citizens."
