LED option for explosion proof beacons.

BEx explosion proof beacon range available in a range of colours and benefit from high reliability LED arrays.
E2S has announced a major extension to the capability of the EEx d versions of its BEx family of Explosion Proof beacons and its MB Series of Marine beacons. The light source in both families can now be specified as an array of high intensity LEDs rather than the traditional Xenon tube, a change that enables nine different modes of operation to be specified. With versions using both technologies now available, users can specify the best option for the installation.

The colour of the protective domes is matched with the wavelength of the relevant LED light source to maximise the output. Available in Amber, Red, Blue, Green or Clear versions, users have a choice of nine different modes, including four flash modes, four rotating modes and a steady state mode. The devices provide three remotely selectable visual alarm stages. In addition to the stand-alone beacon, the units are available combined with a 112dB(A) sounder in a single housing, giving users a cost-effective and easy to install method of providing both audible and visual signalling.

High output LEDs are mechanically robust, so service life is extended, particularly if the units are installed in an environment where shock and vibration is present. The solid state devices are also highly efficient, producing a high intensity light source over the lifetime of the device without significant reduction due to ageing.
