The Virtual Customer Summit set up by Sourcefire drew interest from over 700 people
Sourcefire has announced that its first-ever Virtual Customer Summit, held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, drew more than 700 attendees. The online summit, which included sessions by Sourcefire and Snort experts and customers who discussed leading techniques for identifying and protecting against the latest Cybersecurity threats, is now available online.

The one-day conference featured key network security experts and end users, providing best practices, unique protection insights and tips from real-world experiences, such as:

* Insights from Sourcefire customers on how they are leveraging the award-winning Sourcefire 3D® System to defend their networks against today's dynamic Cybersecurity threats

* Sourcefire founder and Snort creator, Martin Roesch's vision for real-time adaptive network security

* A preview of the upcoming Sourcefire 3D System 4.9 release

* Insight into rapid threat response from the Sourcefire Vulnerability Research TeamTM (VRT), which discussed Sourcefire's methods for gaining threat intelligence and the VRT's process for writing, testing and publishing new Snort rules

* Tips and tricks from the Sourcefire Professionals Services Team on getting the most from your Sourcefire investment based on lessons learned in the field

"With over 700 attendees, the inaugural Virtual Customer Summit is definitely filling a need in the industry by providing unique insights and real-world tips for improving network security," said Tom McDonough, President and COO at Sourcefire. "While attendance at physical conferences is shrinking, Sourcefire identified an innovative way to provide our users with valuable content that is now archived and available for viewing. Based on the success of this summit, we look forward to future events that leverage the knowledge of our customers, partners and expert staff."

The inaugural Sourcefire Virtual Customer Summit was sponsored by ArcSight, Bradford Networks, Crossbeam Systems, Netronome, Qualys and Symantec.
