Laptop hard disk encryption from Secude

Secude International : 13 September, 2007  (New Product)
Secude International's hard disk encryption for laptops could curtail current controversial flood of high-profile data loss from stolen systems.
Secude International, the End-to-End IT Security Products & Solutions Company, releases a new version of its hard disk encryption solution Secude secure notebook. The new version is the first result of the technology partnership with Siemens.

Secude secure notebook 8.0.2 builds on the known and proven functionality of its prior versions. Providing Full Disk Encryption and Pre-Boot-Authentication, the solution protects confidential business data on notebooks, desktops, and external mass storage devices from unauthorized third parties. In addition, 8.0.2 increases user acceptance and user productivity by offering faster boot time.

'Siemens' security solutions are well known worldwide and we're pleased to be able to offer a complementary technology to a market leader." says Tristan Kromer, Business Unit Manager Mobile Security at Secude, "Together we offer companies an easy way to protect business data on notebooks."

As part of this partnership, Siemens CardOS API has now been integrated into Secude secure notebook for the first time, allowing Pre-Boot-Authentication to the notebook with a large number of authentication devices from Siemens. For companies, this means even more flexibility in choosing smartcards or security tokens.

"Secude is one of the worldwide leading providers of hard disk encryption and pre-boot authentication technologies", says Doris Hermann, VP and General Manager Security and Identity Management, Siemens AG. "Combining Siemens CardOS smartcards and Siemens CardOS API middleware with Secude secure notebook 8.0.2, together we are able to provide increased protection and real value-added for our customers".

Siemens CardOS is a multifunctional, certified smart card operating system that meets the most stringent data security requirements. It offers active and passive protection for stored data, certificates and cryptographic keys.

Siemens CardOS API is a crypto middleware for workstations and servers. It offers all necessary application interfaces to perform encryption, authentication and digital signatures in connection with the common business applications.
