Key SIA Director to retire

Security Industry Authority : 27 August, 2009  (Company News)
The Security Industry Authority is to lose its Director of Compliance and Enforcement when he retires at the end of September
Andy Drane, the SIA's Director of Compliance and Enforcement, has announced his retirement from the SIA on 30th September. Andy indicated his intentions earlier in the year.

Andy has been a leading member of the Authority's staff since its inception. He has led each phase of implementing regulation throughout the UK and established a successful strategy and record for compliance and enforcement. He has stepped in twice to temporarily lead the SIA as Acting Chief Executive.

Andy will continue to support the SIA over the next few months, helping to develop training and skills within the authority.

Bill Butler, SIA CEO, said: 'Andy has been a key player in the creation of the SIA as a credible and effective regulator. We all wish him well in his retirement and I am pleased that we will continue to have access to his skills for the next few months.'

Andy Drane said: "After 37 years in public protection roles, with all the exciting challenges, job satisfaction, responsibility, and occasional frustration that goes with that, I am changing the way I work.

"I am immensely proud of what we at the SIA have achieved over the past six years - we have faced and met a number of huge challenges. I am also delighted to have met and worked with people in the industry who are committed to providing high quality private security services. Most of all, I want to thank the superb people in the SIA who have supported me throughout and will continue to take the organisation from strength to strength.

"I look forward to my different, but continuing, contact with those at the SIA and in the private security industry."
