Jericho Forum master class on de-perimeterisation

InfoSecurity Europe : 18 April, 2008  (New Product)
InfoSecurity Europe visitors can attend a master class on enabling collaborative working in a de-perimeterised environment.
For the first time at this year's Infosecurity Europe, the Jericho Forum will unveil the practical steps needed to deal with de-perimeterisation backed by real world case studies. The Jericho Forum Conference takes place on Tuesday, 22 April, at Infosecurity Europe, Olympia.

Users have been at the mercy too long of the plenitude of point solutions on offer from various vendors. In today's environment the old approach of applying fixes to solve security problems simply does not cut it. The integration of new appliances in to the network has always been a challenge - at best causing heavy demands on expensive people resource and at worst leading to squandering precious IT budget on shelf ware.

Gone are the days when security depended on building strong perimeter defences around the corporate network. Modern business depends on transferring increasing volumes of vital information over the raw internet. And all this against a backdrop where more of the workforce is connecting in remotely from laptops it is hard to control and the advent of social networking is increasing the level and complexity of threats.

To respond to this change organisations need to change the way they architect their security - from the grassroots up - and those who fail to do so will be caught in a costly game of catch up in which they will lose flexibility and business advantage.

"Implementation of the principles and concepts developed by Jericho Forum has helped our organisation develop a security model that fits the way the business is - growing, flexing and diversifying in the use of increasingly consumerised IT. Moving from the old model of trying to fit the business into the IT Security straightjacket is essential to maintain credibility of information security as well as increasing the profitability of our business.' John Meakin, Group Head of Information Security, Standard Chartered Bank

At their spring conference at Infosecurity Europe, independent user group the Jericho Forum, is drawing on its collective experience to unveil a clear blueprint with easy to follow steps showing exactly how businesses can architect for secure collaboration. Over the last four years Jericho Forum has amassed strong support from many world-class organisations and gathered an impressive list of members.

At a highly practical master class of Jericho Board members Paul Simmonds, John Meakin, Nick Bleech, Adrian Seccombe, and Andrew Yeomans will use real world case studies to show exactly how you can architect for secure collaboration. They will reference major organisations such as BP and KLM who have already implemented Jericho Forum blueprint. Take homes from this event will include a very clear set of guidelines enabling businesses to collaborate securely with users based outside their organisation and ensure that vital data can better protected with this new architecture.

'The Jericho Forum master class is about how to enable collaborative working in a de-perimeterised environment, and will be the only workshop at Infosecurity where emphasis is on giving vendor independent, reliable advice from seasoned experts who are using these solutions inside their businesses today .'
Paul Simmonds, Global Information Security Director, ICI, and Jericho Forum Board

Throughout Infosecurity Visitors can follow a Jericho Forum Trail at Infosecurity Europe and meet with vendors and user organisations participating at Infosecurity who have already adopted de-perimeterisation.
