IT security industry expert joins Sourcefire Marketing team

Sourcefire : 01 December, 2009  (Company News)
Sourcefire has hired a new Senior Vice President of Marketing to strengthen global brand positioning
Sourcefire has named Gregory Fitzgerald as its new Senior Vice President of Marketing, overseeing the company's worldwide positioning, product delivery and go-to-market strategies.

"As Sourcefire continues to gain market share, deliver innovative technologies and expand globally, we are looking to Greg to add new programs and processes that will strengthen our worldwide presence and highlight our market leadership," said Tom McDonough, President and COO of Sourcefire. "Greg's experience implementing global marketing strategies to build brands and support aggressive sales goals will prove invaluable in helping Sourcefire continue to grow in existing regions and expand into new ones."

Fitzgerald is a 18-year marketing veteran in the security, networking, wireless and systems management arenas. He joins Sourcefire from DisplayPoints, a privately held new media company, where he was CEO and sold for a profit in September 2009. Prior to DisplayPoints, Fitzgerald was Global Vice President of Marketing, Channels and Inside Sales at TippingPoint, a division of 3Com, during that company's period of accelerated growth.

Now overseeing Sourcefire's strategic global marketing initiatives, Fitzgerald will implement programs designed to reinforce the company's technology innovation, channel success and worldwide recognition.

"Sourcefire is one of the most innovative and exciting companies in network security, and I look forward to further building on its stellar brand," said Greg Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sourcefire. "Sourcefire has the technology, customer loyalty and corporate culture to accelerate through the next level of growth. I am excited to begin applying initiatives that will leverage this strength."

Previously, Fitzgerald was Vice President of Marketing for a growth-stage venture, Traq-wireless, in wireless management software and services. Before Traq, he was the Director of Worldwide Solutions Marketing at BMC Software, a leading provider of enterprise management solutions.

Fitzgerald holds a BBA in Marketing and Finance from Emory University, a MBA in Product Marketing from the University of Colorado, and a MIM in International Marketing Strategy from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management.
