IP surveillance and networked security on show at Norbain LIVE08

Norbain : 18 August, 2008  (Technical Article)
The power of digital communications in the security world to be on show at the Norbain road show with a range of IP surveillance products being demonstrated
Norbain LIVE will be bringing together leading suppliers of IP Video solutions, giving you the opportunity to find out how this fast-growing technology can be used and what advantages it brings with it. Some of the latest IP Video products available for demonstration are detailed below.

If you need to make the shift from analogue CCTV to Network Video or are building your first IP-Surveillance system, Axis has the answer. It's easy to build an IP-Surveillance system that combines the benefits of analogue and Network Video systems. No surveillance system is too small to benefit from making the transition to Network Video technology. Even a single analogue camera connected to a video server will give you a full range of advantages that come from digital, networked surveillance. Axis Network Video solutions run on standard Ethernet networking, and support a number of advanced technologies so you can leverage your investments.

Dedicated Micros will be showcasing NetVu Console, a powerful remote CCTV viewing station. Designed to have minimal installation and training requirements, NetVu Console consists of a ruggedised, PTZ style keyboard that can be connected to a network and a local monitor to provide a remote viewing point on a surveillance system. The solution is also able to stream video and audio from any NetVu Connected DVR or Server through the network. NetVu Console enables extra guard stations to be simply added simply and also bridges the gap between the security and IT worlds.
The two concepts driving developments in today's security market are IP and integration, and GE Security are experts in both areas. In the IP arena, they've created a whole new concept in remote communication and control which provides a wall-to-wall solution for communicating via IP. Their IP solutions cover reporting and receiving facilities, as well as management systems with fully integrated CCTV solutions and optional video transmission using IP. When it comes to integration, they cannot only integrate current systems such as intrusion, access, CCTV and fire, but can also ensure that any solutions they offer have both forward and backward compatibility.

The world's first dedicated IP/PoE lighting system, Raytec's RAYMAX IP and RAYLUX IP Infra-Red and White-Light illuminators are designed to provide dedicated lighting for IP cameras via a PoE (Power over Ethernet) cable. Installation is made quick and easy by simply plugging in the Ethernet cable. IP lighting dramatically lowers installation costs as it allows installers to use the existing network structures to power illumination. With most crime happens at night, these new IP lighting solutions aim to close the loophole in the growing IP market by providing dedicated illumination to deliver full 24/7 lighting surveillance.

Samsung Techwin will be demonstrating the SNC-550, a network camera that offers a choice of either MPEG-4 or JPEG compression with real time transmission at 25ips.  A  true Day/Night camera with a built-in IR cut filter, the SNC-550 supports  Power over Ethernet, reducing cabling and installation costs and is equipped with SSNR, Noise Reduction to ensure high resolution, smear-free images at low light levels and significantly reduce bandwidth and storage overheads. The SNC-550 is part of Samsung Techwin's iPolis Network/Video over IP product range which includes domes, DVRs and video network server and CMS central management software.

The Vista VIP-KIT is a plug 'n' play entry level solution which allows up to 16 cameras to be viewed, recorded, controlled and configured via the free, simple-to-use PC based software. The kit contains all the key features for customers requiring a small to medium sized system whilst utilising an existing IP networking infrastructure in a building. Because the software and cameras have all been designed to operate together as a kit, there are no compatibility issues. Additionally, as all the cameras in the range are hybrid, they can be used as IP network cameras and used on standard composite video based systems.
