Internet Security Company Takes Virus Protection and URL Filtering from Commtouch

Commtouch : 27 May, 2010  (Application Story)
Using proprietary Recurrent Pattern Detection, Zemana will provide its subscribers with accurate spam detection as well as internet filtering and anti-virus software from Commtouch
Zemana, a global Internet security company protecting online environments for consumers, organizations and service providers, has added Commtouch Anti-Spam, Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection and GlobalView URL Filtering to the Zemana Internet Security Suite.

"Our vision is to continually deliver the latest technology offering the highest level of protection to our clients," said Velislav Daskalov, vice president, business development at Zemana. "We chose Commtouch as a technology partner because it provides proven high quality and reliable mail and Web filtering solutions."

Zemana's Internet Security Suite provides protection for PCs against malware attacks and ensures that threats never breach the firewall. With Commtouch's technology, protection against zero-hour spam and malware outbreaks and Web threats is even further enhanced.

"Zemana's enhancement of its security suite with Commtouch demonstrates the strength of our best of breed messaging and Web security technologies for anti-malware solution providers," said Ofer Tal, Commtouch vice president of international sales and business development. "Working with Zemana in Turkey further confirms our commitment to this important market and our ability to support the various needs of our global, multi-lingual customers."

Commtouch technology is being used within the Zemana system as the solution's "gate keeper," preventing spam, viruses, phishing schemes and malware from entering an organization's network or a person's computer, both via email and through Web browsing. Commtouch's cloud-based solutions leverage Commtouch's proprietary Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD) technology. These solutions block more than 98% of spam and phishing schemes propagated via email, have near-zero false positives and protect against malware even before traditional anti-virus signatures are available. The technology detects threats early, identifying outbreaks with its predictive threat detection that recognizes harmful sites before users are exposed.

Zemana's technology has received recognition for its security/protection capabilities. Bill Mullins, a security consultant and renowned blogger said about its AntiLogger product: 'I was immediately impressed by this application. If maintaining your privacy is a concern, you might consider adding this application to your security toolbox.'

Zemana plans to launch the Internet Security Suite in Q4 2010.
