Internet health check portal

Network Box : 28 October, 2008  (New Product)
Portal for customers of Network Box enables internet health checks to be carried out
A new Customer Portal from managed security firm, Network Box, will give customers access to a complete view of the health of their Internet connections and use, security status and VPNs, from anywhere in the world.

The Network Box Customer Portal provides customers with access to information held on Network Box's 'Outbreak' system, a centralised system that collects information on, analyses and summarises information on the 60,000 or so security events handled by Network Box every minute. Outbreak identifies trends based on up-to-the minute activity round the world, and alerts Network Box's security engineers to changes in the global threat landscape.

The web-based portal includes interactive maps that show customers any trouble spots across their network. Customers can see, at a glance, their company's global connectivity and detailed security status, and can drill down into details using a zoom feature to analyse the source of any problems, or unusual usage. This information is based on Network Box's Global Monitoring System - a global network of monitoring stations that test, record and alert on hundreds of health metrics for every Network Box and Internet gateway.

The Network Box Customer Portal launches in beta at the end of October, and will be rolled out to Network Box customers through November.

Other benefits include:

* Multi-language support
* A ticketing module that shows the status of any current activity between a customer and Network Box
* Inventory management (users can assign detailed information to each Network Box, such as name, location, status - to make managing them easier)
* User management tools, which let customers manage their own user accounts, set access rights, and manage passwords
* Details of service level and contractual agreements
* A regional mirror system to provide fast local access to the portal

Simon Heron, Internet Security Analyst for Network Box, says: "We use incredibly sophisticated systems such as Outbreak and the Global Monitoring System to help us respond quickly to changes in the security landscape. Our customers have been asking us for access to this information, which the new customer portal is designed to provide."
