ScriptLogic has announced the availability of Security Explorer 7.5, a powerful, graphical solution for real-time management of access controls and security on workstations across the enterprise. IT admins benefit from Security Explorer features applicable to Microsoft Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010 and SQL 2008 R2 that enhance IT security and aid with strategic initiatives such as compliance and server migrations.
IT administrators need to apply security policies consistently across all their servers and may be running several Microsoft technologies at once. Security Explorer simplifies the complex task of security management with a single, intuitive and high performance interface for managing security on file servers, SharePoint sites, SQL Servers and Exchange.
Chief among the enhancements, Security Explorer 7.5 capitalizes on the newest Exchange permissions model, Role Based Access Control (RBAC), by managing RBAC settings. IT admins rely on RBAC to streamline how they assign roles and permissions within companies, saving time and enhancing security.
"Since research and feedback from customers indicates that we should see a significant number of companies upgrading to Microsoft Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010 and SQL 2008 R2, our product development team worked to ensure those customers would have a tool for efficient, centralized management of Windows server security," said Andy Langsam, president of ScriptLogic Corporation. "Security Explorer 7.5 is fully equipped to enable administrators to proactively improve security and demonstrate data security compliance on servers across all networks."
Thousands of IT admins use Security Explorer for a variety of strategic tasks. The product reports on user permissions and aids with compliance by verifying that certain controls are in place. In addition, Security Explorer facilitates numerous tasks needed as part of a server migration, including permissions restore, ACL pairing and modification of service accounts.
"Given that our IT environment sees a number of students who either become new users or graduate each year, ScriptLogic's Security Explorer allows me to universally update permissions across many users at once," said Scott Davis, IT director of Auburn University's College of Architecture, Design and Construction. "This saves me a lot of time while also making sure that users are not abusing the rights they are given. Plus, Security Explorer is able to evolve with me; I am planning an upgrade to SharePoint 2010 later this year and can now use Security Explorer to enforce policy on the upgraded systems."
