Integrated Pattern Based Authentication For Web Applications

Gridsure : 19 October, 2011  (New Product)
The GrIDsure Authentication Platform provides developers with a means of integrating strong pattern based authentication technology into their web-based applications
Integrated Pattern Based Authentication For Web Applications
GrIDsure has announced the launch of GrIDsure Authentication Platform (GAP) 2.0, the latest version of its authentication server. With a new RADIUS interface as well as the SOAP/XML API, GAP 2.0 allows developers and network professionals to integrate secure, pattern based authentication with one-time passcodes into any web-based application or RADIUS enabled device. The product can also be installed and used out-of-the-box by companies and organisations to provide secure 2-factor log-in for employees requiring remote access to the company network.

“We have added the RADIUS interface to provide an easy to use and easy to deploy authentication solution for companies that want to make remote working more secure,” explains GrIDsure Founder and CTO Stephen Howes. “Employees now take it for granted that they can access company networks and data on the move, even from their own personal devices. The large number of high-profile data breaches this year has demonstrated that passwords are not secure enough, and companies have a responsibility to protect their customers’ data adequately. Implementing strong authentication is one step that’s so easy to take, yet can make all the difference in keeping data secure.”

GrIDsure Pattern Based Authentication is a method for strong authentication that’s cost-efficient and easy to use. Instead of hard tokens, it uses sequential pattern recognition to reliably identify users and their access rights. Users choose a memorable pattern and sequence of cells on a grid, their Personal Identification Pattern (PIP). Every time they log on, they are presented with a challenge GrID of random numbers, which can be displayed either on their computer screen or sent to a mobile phone. They then enter those values that accord with their PIP, creating a secure, one-time passcode at every login without giving away their secret pattern.

With GAP 2.0, the GrID can be displayed on iPhones as well as any phone running Java.

As well as providing an out-of-the-box solution for remote RADIUS access, GAP 2.0 also uses standard Web 2.0 design interfaces and can be easily integrated into any existing or new web system. The platform is highly customizable; both the size and background of the GrID and the PIP size can be configured according to the security requirements.

GAP 2.0 is available now, on its own or with a plug-in to provide secure access to the Microsoft ForeFront Unified Access Gateway 2010 (UAG). It is part of a family of authentication solutions including GrIDsure Enterprise Login and GrIDsure Solo Login.
