Insulation Plates For Idesco RFID Readers

Idesco Oy : 06 September, 2010  (New Product)
Idesco provides advice on installing RFID readers on metal walls or in the vicinity of electrical devices, offering plastic insulation plates to prevent reductions in signal range
Insulation Plates For Idesco RFID Readers
If you're thinking of installing an Idesco reader on either a metal wall or opposite an electrical device on the other side of the wall, then consider the options first.

Unless an Idesco plastic installation plate separates your Idesco reader from that metal wall its effective range will be greatly decreased. This is because electromagnetic eddy currents are actually created in metal walls by RFID readers - strong enough to create an interference pattern that actually degrades a reader's range (see illustration).

However, if you buffer your reader from the metal wall with an Idesco plastic installation plate you eliminate the problem. Additionally, if you install your reader over a previous device site, your Idesco installation plate will cover any unsightly holes or stains left by the old device.

Lastly, before installing your Idesco reader on any non-insulating wall (e.g. concrete, wood, etc.), find out first if any electrical device is mounted on that wall's opposite side. If so you will probably need an Idesco metal insulation plate to protect your reader from the electromagnetic interference emanating through the wall from that other device. Idesco's metal insulation plate also comes with a plastic buffer to prevent eddy current interference from your Idesco reader.

Idesco is not like numerous other manufacturers who are happy to sell inexpensive readers but may fail to inform customers about possible limitations or range problems. We know the technology, we find solutions to the problems and share it with you.
