Industry leader joins ShotSpotter board of directors

Shotspotter : 05 December, 2008  (Company News)
Ex-General Dynamics President brings rich experience to ShotSpotter's board of directors
ShotSpotter has announced that Michael Chandler, former President of General Dynamics Information Technology business unit, has joined their board of directors.

James Beldock, president and chief executive officer of ShotSpotter said, "I couldn't be more pleased that Mike has agreed to join our Board. Under his dynamic leadership, General Dynamics Information Technology grew to become unrivaled in its industry. His industry insight, background, experience and intimate knowledge of the defense, intelligence, and homeland security sectors will contribute greatly to ShotSpotter's continued growth and success."

"The nature of ShotSpotter's flagship product, the ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System (GLS), is a clear indication of how invaluable this technology is to improving safety. This mission-essential surveillance technology is relied on by many cities and counties to provide public safety officials with life-saving data and analytics on violent gun-crime and life-threatening explosions within their community," said Michael Chandler. "I look forward to lending my experience to ShotSpotter's capable management team as they expand their business into the Department of Defense, Homeland Security and the international marketplace."

Chandler brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in defense, intelligence, homeland security, federal, civil, and commercial sectors to ShotSpotter. He was president of General Dynamics Network Systems from September 1999 through June 2006. At that time, General Dynamics acquired Anteon Corporation and merged it with Network Systems to form General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). Chandler was president of GDIT until his retirement in April 2008. Currently he serves on the board of trustees of the Naval Post Graduate School Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at CommsFirst, a First Responder continuity-of-operations communications company.

Chandler holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Science in management from the Naval Post Graduate School. He also attended the Stanford University Executive Program.
