Independent software for H.264 compatible surveillance systems

Mirasys : 21 November, 2008  (New Product)
NVR 5.0 from Mirasys supports H.264 compression standard for manufacturer independent video surveillance networking
With the release of Mirasys NVR 5.0, Mirasys has published the world's first truly manufacturer independent H.264 compatible video surveillance software - along with two lines of H.264 supporting recorders.

As the evolution of MegaPixel surveillance cameras has rapidly increased Digital Video resolutions, the flip side of image quality has emerged: the growing size of packed video images have prevented high quality cameras from becoming the default choice in video surveillance installations. H.264 is the newest, most efficient data packaging method developed to combat the bandwidth requirements of video images. By compressing packed video up to 60% more than currently employed packing methods, H.264 enables the best image quality with highly decreased network infrastructure requirements.

"H.264 is the key to the future. MegaPixel quality images have tended to hog up network bandwidth in excessive amounts, making MegaPixel surveillance a choice limited to a narrow range of installations. However, due to the limited bandwidth requirements of H.264, MegaPixel quality surveillance becomes the de facto choice in surveillance," comments Kim Långström, VP of Sales and Marketing at Mirasys Ltd. "H.264 provides just what MegaPixel surveillance needs at the moment. The MegaPixel revolution truly arrives with this innovation."

Along with Mirasys NVR 5.0, Mirasys has launched a comprehensive NVR recorder family, the Mirasys N series, which consists of three product lines designed to answer all IP based video surveillance needs. Complementing the popular Mirasys V series hybrid recorder line, Mirasys N series recorders can be tailored to suit the needs of small and large businesses alike. Fully H.264 compatible, the recorders make it possible to cover even large surveillance sites with extremely detailed resolution but lessened installation investments.
