IM security strengthened with FaceTime agreement.

AN4 Group : 21 August, 2007  (New Product)
AN4 offers FaceTime security products as part of its range to counter the threats associated with Instant Messaging and peer to peer networks.
AN4 Group has announced new accreditation for its Security Division based on feedback received during its first round of security audits with key corporate customers. The group has completed new accreditation on a range of solutions from FaceTime to help enhance security and management control over Instant Messaging, Peer-to-Peer applications and VoIP systems such as Skype.

As Kristian Connor, Sales Director for AN4 Group explained, "After launching our security division in July, our first task has been to assign security account managers to existing clients and perform audits. One of the most interesting things we found during these audits is the amount of Instant Messaging and P2P applications running within corporate environments."

"Some of these applications are running with the knowledge of the IT departments but many are simply accessed by users on an informal basis. Either way, few companies have security measures in place to specifically deal with the threat these applications present." He adds.

The recent and highly publicised Pykse.A which affects Skype and the more common IRCBot.lo which can potentially be carried by multiple instant message and IRC clients are both examples of threats that can evade traditional gateway scanning solutions.

"We looked at the market and only FaceTime has a complete offering across these unprotected areas and its products performed particularly well in our evaluation tests across a wide range of IM, P2P and VoIP platforms."

FaceTime Communications offers a range of tools aimed at securing control over "greynet" applications such as instant messaging, adware/spyware, webmail, P2P file sharing, web conferencing and instant voice. AN4 Group views the addition of FaceTime as a complimentary product along side traditional gateway content security.

Moving quickly, technical and sales teams from AN4 Group have undergone training in
FaceTime's Enterprise Edition and Internet Security Edition software to attain partner status. AN4 Group also has one FaceTime pilot up and running with a large corporate client in the retail sector.
