Identity management specialists working with Kantara eGovernment group

Ping Identity : 07 September, 2009  (Company News)
Ping Identity is working with the Kantara Initiative to establish internet identity security standards for eGovernment projects
Ping Identity has announced its participation in the Kantara Initiative's eGovernment Work Group. The group will facilitate collaboration among Kantara members interested in eGovernment identity management applications and services. Ping Identity CTO Patrick Harding will participate in the group, sharing more than two decades of experience in building and aligning identity management and security technologies with strategic corporate and governmental initiatives.

"Citizens in countries around the world expect to have the same level of Web interaction with government agencies as they have with businesses and friends," Harding said. "Establishing critical Internet identity security standards for eGovernment now will not only ensure easier, more secure access to government information, but will also help advance business and consumer interactions in the cloud."

The Kantara eGovernment Work Group will focus on:

* Acting as a forum to share government organizational best practices.
* Presenting 'a government view' into other Kantara groups so that these views are considered in the development of Kantara Initiative policy recommendations and standards specifications.
* Promoting the development, adoption and support for eGovernment deployment profiles of open specifications.

The eGov Work Group will develop an operational checklist for the federation and trust aspects of deployments of OASIS SAML 2.0 and ID-WSF specification sets. The group will also work with other Kantara groups on further requirements such as privacy, security and legal frameworks and deployment guidelines for circles of trust and open trust frameworks such as the Identity Assurance Framework (IAF) Service Assessment Criteria (SAC) specifications.
