IDC research confirms leading position of UTM vendor

Fortinet : 25 September, 2008  (Company News)
Fortinet maintains revenue leadership in the Unified Threat Management market according to IDC research data
Fortinet has announced that new IDC research data confirms that the company has maintained its No 1 ranking in worldwide UTM factory revenue for Q2 2008. The company continues to fuel its rapid customer adoption with its new generation secure gateways tailored for large enterprises and MSSPs. For the 10 consecutive quarters, Fortinet continues to lead the UTM market ahead of Check Point, Cisco, Crossbeam, Juniper and SonicWALL.

Data in the latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly Security Appliance Tracker, September 2008 confirmed:.

* Fortinet is the overall leader in UTM factory revenue for Q2 2008, ahead of Check Point, Cisco, Crossbeam, Juniper and SonicWALL.
* Fortinet is the No 1 vendor in the high-end UTM ($50K-$99.9K) price band for both factory revenue and units shipped.
* Fortinet is the No 1 vendor in the enterprise UTM (25K-$49.9K) price band segments for both factory revenue and units shipped.
* Fortinet is the overall leader in UTM factory revenue for Western Europe and Asia Pacific for Q2 2008.

"IDC's latest research supports that increased enterprise core and branch deployments of Fortinet's new generation secure gateways are helping us to successfully further penetrate this market," said Ken Xie, president, founder and CEO of Fortinet. "Also, Fortinet's strong position within the overall network security appliance space also indicates rapid adoption of our appliances, which have become the backbone of many enterprise, MSSP and carrier security solutions."
