ID Theft protection for iPhone users

Deepnet Security : 28 October, 2009  (New Product)
The increasing dilemma of ID fraud based on iPhone users is being countered by Deepnet's recently released MobileID application specifically for the iPhone
Deepnet launches its MobileID iPhone Application, to combat the growing problem of ID theft and cope with the rise in iPhone use, as Apple sells 7.4million handsets year-on-year.

In 2008, 8.4 million web users fell victim to ID fraud and this increased sharply during the first six months of 2009, costing a total of £39 million. This combined with the iPhone being the business communication tool of choice, with for 27 per cent of users.

The MobileID application will enable users to transform their iPhone into a one time password (OTP) token, providing strong authentication without the need to deploy or carry any additional, dedicated hardware tokens.

Yurong Lin, CEO, Deepnet, comments, "As the use of iPhones to access corporate information remotely increases so too does the need for built-in security that makes it easy for the user to authenticate themselves.

"We have been using MobileID to transform mobile phones, PDAs and PCs into authentication tokens for years, but now have the ability to do this on the iPhone, enhancing our unified authentication platform."

Mike Bienvenu, Technical Director, Softek, a leading IT security and storage distributor says: "The launch of Deepnet's iPhone application is great news for businesses who choose the Apple smartphone. It is one of the most user friendly and cost-effective ways of providing two factor authentication and organisations can now ensure remote workers who need access to applications like Outlook Anywhere are completely protected against ID theft."

If you are an iPhone user and would like to download the application, you can visit the Apple App store today and download Deepnet's MobileID for free.
