ICT Recovery in The UK Supported By Trustmarque

Trustmarque Solutions : 12 January, 2011  (Company News)
Public sector technology funding campaign in the UK is being supported by Trustmarque Solutions enabling public sector companies to find effective solutions during government budget cuts
Value Added Reseller (VAR) Trustmarque Solutions is one of the key sponsors of the new PublicTechnology.net public sector ICT Recovery campaign. Launched in November 2010, the campaign is responding to the threat that ICT investment faces being cut in the pursuit of short term budget reductions.

The purpose of the ICT Recovery campaign is to tap into the collective experience and knowledge of IT professionals to promote ICT best practice in the public sector and to make its potential known to the highest circles, which is something Trustmarque is determined to support. PublicTechnology.net is eager to hear about the success stories, the little triumphs that add up to small victories.

Public sector organisations across the board have to deal with budget cuts and belt squeezing, all the while maintaining and improving public service levels to citizens. With this in mind, all are looking to drive down their cost base. Scott Haddow CEO at Trustmarque, commented that organisations who have not adapted to the new environment and culture within the public sector will have a tough time.

“Keeping budgets the same as last year is not an option for CIOs. Investing to save is not an option either, where previously for both public and private sector organisations it was ‘Invest ‘X’ amount in OPEX or CAPEX and you’ll get the benefit of more efficient IT’,” Scott Haddow says. “No-one is prepared to do that anymore.”

“We have seen an increased demand from public sector organisations looking to us to help them drive down costs. At the same time we’ve seen a slowdown in the usual ‘buying things’ and the run rate of traditional business coming from these organisations. Instead a lot of CIOs are making the decision to come to us and they are asking how they can achieve significant savings, and where best to start.” He adds that for organisations which have understood and adapted to the swiftly changing landscape in the public sector, “it could actually be a good opportunity.”

Tom Dunkerley, Managing Director of Sift Media states: “I am delighted to see the ICT Recovery campaign sponsored by an organisation that has been so actively involved in driving down IT costs in the public sector. It is clear from the success of the Work Smart Cost Savings campaign that Trustmarque has the same vision as PublicTechnology.net and we welcome its support in promoting the message, that effective public sector IT is an investment in the future of the UK.”

Earlier this year, Trustmarque gained a place on the government IT framework for Commoditised IT Hardware and Software (CITHS), previously known as Catalist. Trustmarque is one of just ten companies to be awarded a framework agreement for a position on the prestigious software supplier list with preferred adviser and provider status to both central (civil) government and the wider public sector.

Trustmarque launched its Work Smart Cost Savings Campaign on 1st September 2010, which is designed to help public sector organisations squeeze out costs and stretch budgets further to deliver optimum value on their IT investments. Since then Trustmarque has effectively worked with a number of local councils, the MoD and NHS Trusts to drive down their IT costs and improve best practices within the business.
