High speed network encryptor certified for government use

SafeNet : 15 October, 2008  (New Product)
The KG-340 from SafeNet provides encryption of classified information for transmission over secure high speed networks
SafeNet has announced the availability of the KG-340, its Type 1 SONET/SDH Encryptor for the protection of classified information sent over high-speed US Government networks. It is the only encryptor of its kind in existence.

Developed under the National Security Agency's (NSA) Commercial COMSEC Evaluation Program (CCEP), the KG-340 is the latest innovation in high-performance transport encryption for optical networks up to 10Gbps speeds.
"SafeNet celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and the KG-340 is another milestone in the company's long history of providing government and high grade data protection solutions to the world's most security conscious organizations," said Jim Summers, senior vice president and general manager of SafeNet's Government Solutions Division. "The KG-340 underscores SafeNet's commitment to providing leading-edge security technologies to this critical community of Type 1 communications users.'

Because of its superior security capabilities, the KG-340 is expected to be deployed by the US Government's Intelligence Communities, Department of Defence, and civilian agencies to protect classified communications traversing the information grid. The KG-340 provides full-duplex hardware-accelerated encryption with HAIPE compliant key exchange.

"The KG-340 operates at the SONET/SDH layer, delivering low latency security with no overhead generation, ideal for high bandwidth circuits," said Jay Lindenauer, SafeNet's Director of Engineering for Transport Encryption. "The KG-340 is a flexible platform that will enable SafeNet to deliver new encryption solutions to customers as their network security needs evolve."
