High Performance Explosive Screening System for Small and Medium Sized Airports

Morpho Detection : 25 March, 2010  (New Product)
Morpho Detection is catering for the needs of smaller airports with the dual technology CTX 5800 baggage screening system with low profile and high throughput
Morpho Detection has announced the CTX 5800, its next-generation, compact design, high-performance CTX explosives detection system (EDS).

The CTX 5800 combines industry-leading imaging and data collection in a smaller and lighter solution. Designed to assist small- and mid-sized airports take advantage of computed tomography (CT) technology, the CTX 5800 helps airports maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of their checked bag screening operations, while planning for evolving threats and future expansion.

Using the CTX 5800 can help airport operators drive down operational costs and increase return on investment (ROI) for security screening infrastructure. All this can add up to a powerful customer service improvement both for tenant airlines and their passengers.

"The CTX 5800 is a prime example of Morpho Detection's commitment to incorporating our cutting-edge technologies into systems and products designed to help meet the security challenges of all airports around the world, regardless of size," said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection. "Now, like their larger counterparts, small- to mid-sized airports can take advantage of the cost and performance benefits of proven CT technology and Morpho Detection's legacy of CTX experience for their checked bag screening needs."

Identical to the imaging and data collection capabilities of the larger, TSA-certified CTX 9800 DSi, the CTX 5800 utilizes the innovative data acquisition system, Clarity - bringing together GE Healthcare's pioneering imaging technology and Morpho Detection's industry-leading automated explosives detection technology. Morpho Detection recently completed data collection for the CTX 5800, and it will be submitted to the TSA for formal certification later this year.

With baggage throughput ranging from 400-450 bags per hour (BPH), but at a reduced size and weight of EDS with similar throughput, the CTX 5800 is ideal for small- and mid-sized airports looking to adopt automated screening.
